It depends on which part of Europe, one is willing to travel to. Europe is huge and most countries near Russia and Ukraine should be avoided travel. Also one should understand the Air space route airlines are using to travel to a particular destination from your origin.
Countries that should be avoided to visit during Russia,Ukrainian war –
- Airports in Poland near to Border of Ukraine should be avoided visiting during the war
- Airports in Belarus near to Border of Ukraine should be avoided visiting during the war
- Airports in Moldova near to Border of Ukraine should be avoided visiting during the war
- Airports in Romania near to Border of Ukraine should be avoided visiting during the war
Though these countries are not at risk, however in case the war invades to a higher level, these borders might also come at a risk. Also, although the airlines won’t put you at any risk nearby airspace should be avoided at least for the next few days.

Is it safe to travel to Russia during the war?
Well, technically it should be safe to travel to Russia from another border than Ukrainian, however, there are a few things that are to be considered –
Countries in favour of Ukraine might shut Air connections with Russia (Might be a part of sanction)
At least, for the next few days, this type of travel should be avoided. We should wait to see the extent of war only then should fly to Russia (if not urgent). There might be a possibility that one gets stuck.
Russia might be removed from Swift payment system
A swift payment system helps one to transfer money from one country to another. UN is trying to pass an order to restrict Russia from the Swift payment system. If it would be the case then one will not be able to receive and send any money from Russia. That could mean a total shutdown of the economy.
Air space closures
Few countries that are in favour of Ukraine in the war might close their airspace for Russia, which could lead to route closures. This thing can drastically affect your travel plans.
It is strictly advisable to check travel advisory issued by your country for your destination country. Travel safety will depend on the extent of this war. However, for the next few days, it is advisable not to use even the nearby airspace of the war-affected countries.
