About Tajon Buchanan
Buchanan is a Jamaican-Canadian who grew up in Brampton. When Buchanan was just seven years old, his father tragically passed away. When he was eight years old, he joined the Brampton Youth SC soccer team. Buchanan and his Mississauga Falcons team won the IMG Cup in 2014. At the urging of his best friend and his best friend’s father (and former coach), Chrys Chrysanthou, he uprooted to Colorado, where he enrolled in the USSDA academy Real Colorado. He was 15 at the time.
After two years of collegiate soccer with Syracuse University (2017–2018), Buchanan left early to sign a Generation Adidas deal with Major League Soccer in preparation for the 2019 MLS SuperDraft. He made 33 appearances for the Orange and scored 12 goals while adding six assists.
Buchanan made seven appearances for Sigma FC, a League1 Ontario team, in the summer of 2018, scoring twice.
