Saputara is in the state of Gujarat in India .
Starting from the month of October till the month of Feb is the best time to visit Saputara . This is a winter season which attracts more tourists around the place.
No , there is no COVID restriction on visiting Saputara . All the restrictions were released by state govt post lockdown. Though it is advisable to follow social distancing measures .
Saputara is located near to the borders of Gujarat and Maharashtra .It is around 160 kms from Surat and is very easily accessible by road.
Places to see in Saputara (Dang District). It is a small town in the Indian state of Gujarat. The Artist Village cultural centre show case and sells, the tribal arts and crafts.
The heritage of the local Dang tribe at Saputara Tribal Museum is something to see for. Here the picnic spots are the Step Garden and the Lake Garden which is set on Lake Saputara.

Pandava Gufa
It is said that the Pandavas used this cave as a hiding place when they were on expulsion. They were trying to get away from the Kauravas with the help of it .
These caves are also known as Aravalem caves. Reaching to the caves needs quite a bit of trekking.This trekking part of it makes the cave very exciting.
There are a number of tribal villages around . These caves were cut to perfection later which made it an awesome spot for photography. The best to visit the caves is in the evening at the time of sunset .
Hathgarh Fort
This fort is on the borders of Gujarat and Maharashtra. It is ata distance of 5 km from Saputara.
It is a primary site for trekking admirers as the fort can be reached only on foot. One has to climb about 3600 feet to reach here.
The fort is amidst the hills of the Sahyadri range.The pool of the Jamuna can be found here which is also the source of water in the region.
A remarkable outlook of the surrounding scenery can be enjoyed from above the fort.
The Ropeway
It is really fun to experience the ropeway in Saputara. Isn’t it a right way to do sightseeing.
The ropeway is about thirty feet above the ground level and is one of the best ways to reach Sunset Point.
The tourists get a marvellous view of the town from here. It gives a bird’s eye view of the panorama.
The Governor’s Hill can be approached from here in fifteen minutes. The cable cars board 12 people at a time. The ropeway is open from 9 am to 5: 30 pm and entry fee is around INR 60.
Rose Garden
Another famous spot in Saputara is the Rose Garden houses. It has a wide diversity of roses. Specially when they are in full bloom it pleasing to see them.
It is a great place to ease a bit, and the elegant fragrance of roses in the air will hush your senses. During spring when the roses are in full bloom you will to see it .
Entry to the garden is free and it is open from 9 am to 6 pm.
Honey Bees Center
This centre in town is where raw honey is plucked which is completely organic. The facility is close to the Lake Garden .Many school and college trips are often regulated here to make the generation aware of the way in which natural organic honey is plucked.
Tourists gets information about the honey industry and the importance of bees in our ecology.
The full process of gathering honey can be seen here. People also buy fresh honey from here. The facility is open from 8 am to 8 pm.
Purna Sanctuary
It is located within the lush dense forests of the Western Ghats. It is in a area of over 160.8 kms. It was established in 1990.
A wide variety of flora and fauna is seen here with full detailed information on them.
This sanctuary is the home for good number of animal species , like sloth bear, elephants, wild bulls and rhinos.
Bamboo clusters and teak trees are in Majority as the plant species here along with 700 other known plant species.
The park is open from 6 am to 5:30 pm and costs only Rs 20 per person.
Vansda National Park
It is Located at a distance of about 40 km from Saputara and is maintained by the South Dangs Forest Division.
It is the most important region which should never be missed if you are visiting Saputara. It area is about 23.99 sq km. Because of the tropical and humid climate it is a home to a large species of plant and animal.
It is mostly very dense, evergreen forest where one can spot leopards, hyenas, wild boars, sambars, antelopes and a vast number of reptile and bird species.
There are 443 species of plants like bamboo, dudhkod, kakad, kalam, haldu, sisam among others.Above mentioned are recorded species where as it is estimated to be vert high.
A number of tribes still lives here. The best time to visit the national park is between October to March. The easiest way to be here is by Waghai or Bilmora railway station.
The park is open from 6 am to 5:30 pm. A safari would cost around INR 500 for vehicle and guide.
Saptashringi Devi Mandir
It is in Vani in the Nashik region of Maharashtra.This temple is considered as one of the Shakti Peeths of the India.
It is believed that the idol of the Devi is Swayambhu, as in, the idol revealed itself on a rock surrounding by mountains and was surrounded by its 7 peak.
The statue of the Devi is truly splendid. The structure is 10 feet tall and there are 18 hands of Devi holding weapons in all.
The idol is also always coated with Sindoor which is believed to be holy. The Saputarians come here often to pay their respects to devi.
The Steps are cut from the base of the mountains which have to be climbed to reach the temple. It is open from 6 am to 6pm every day.
Lake Garden
Lake garden is located into the arms of lake, it is a major tourist spot in region and many tourists come here for picnics.
In the evening you will see a good number of local Saputarians coming here . The garden is very impressive landscaped where a wide range of fauna species can be seen .
There is a playing ground near by where you will see youngsters trying hands on nations favourite sport cricket or football.
The lake is adorable and boating gives it an additional advantage for visitors . Garden is free and it is open from 9 am to 8 pm.
Echo Point
As you miust have already understood with the name , this place enables to hear one’s own voice as it hits and comes back by the surrounding hills.
It is surely a most famous tourist point, situated close to Matheran. There are also few waterfalls here and those are exciting to explore.
It is quite wild in the surroundings but still is safe if you want to visit here. The hills around make an adorable backdrop and the Charlotte Lake is a popular picnic place near Saputara. The point is open from 9 am to 7 pm every day.
Saputara Tribal Museum
The tribes once settled in the hills of Saputara lead a very engrossing life and quite a few artefacts relate to their way of life are protected in a cute little museum.
The museum was built so that the voyagers could become well known with the local tribal culture and have an extensive understanding about them.
There are also books and papers that record the life of the Bhils, Kunbis, Gamits, Warlis and Dang tribe of Saputara. The region probably gets its name from Dang tribe only.
It consists of clothes, weapons, household objects, utensils ,musical instruments and ornaments.
Workshops and other forms of presentations are held here yearly so that the people come to know about the significance of the tribe in keeping the ecology of the region. The museum is open from 10 am to 5:30 pm and entry is merely INR 2.
Sunset Point
This point is located very near to Saputara . It is also known as the Gandhi Shikhar and is situated about 1.7 km away from the town center.
Either cab can be taken or if you believe that you can walk around that is also possible as it will give you a beautiful outlook of the surrounding .
You will enjoy great scene of the sunset .
You will see this point full all around the year. The best ways of reaching this spot is to take a ten mins ropeway ride that will offer great panoramic bird eye view around.
Some famous tourist spots around are Vansda National Park and Saputara Museum and any local transport will take you there.
Gira Waterfalls
Once you enter the Dang district you will see crowd pushing you to visit Gira Waterfalls and once you visit there you will understand the reason of that push .
It is one of the most amazing spots to visit in the monsoons, the best part of the waterfall really comes through in the season of rain.
These falls are sometimes misunderstood with the Girmal Falls, though those are also another mind blowing falls but are different .
The way to reach out to the particular fall is by taking bus from Saputara till Wanarchod village.
