Malaysian tourists bus met with an Accident in Kanchanaburi

KANCHANABURI – A tour bus accident in Bo Phloi district of Kanchanaburi has resulted in injuries to 37 Malaysian tourists, as well as the Thai driver and guide. The incident occurred on Thursday, 22 Feb 2024 afternoon when the bus skidded off the road between kilometre markers 14 and 15 on the Bo Phloi-Lat Ya Boulevard.

  1. Accident Details: The tour bus, with Bangkok licence plates, was en route from Safari Park in Bo Phloi to a restaurant in downtown Muang district. While attempting to overtake a 10-wheel truck, the bus experienced steering wheel issues, causing it to lose control and veer off the road.
  2. Injuries Reported: All 39 individuals on board, including 37 Malaysian tourists, suffered injuries in the accident. Some sustained severe wounds, requiring immediate medical attention. The injured were swiftly transported to Bo Phloi Hospital, with over 20 ambulances dispatched to the scene.
  3. Driver’s Account: Driver Sarayu Daengdam, 44, recounted the incident, stating that the bus encountered mechanical issues while overtaking the truck. Despite his efforts, he was unable to regain control, resulting in the bus skidding off the road. Fortunately, no other vehicles were involved in the accident.
  4. Tourist Assistance: Tourist police promptly visited the hospital to provide assistance to the injured tourists and guide. The guide, who sustained significant injuries, was transferred to another medical facility for further treatment.
