Out in Palm Jumeirah, FIVE Hotels and Resorts has created a studio and invited the likes of Robin Schulz, Lost Frequencies and Fatman Scoop, with the label being run in partnership with Warner Music
Among the first names that spring up when you look for a music and nightlife experience in Dubai, FIVE Hotels and Resorts took their commitment to the next level by starting a label called FIVE Music last year, partnering with Warner Music Central Europe, and having a studio as well, in collaboration with Germany’s seasoned music company Stefan Dabruck Management.
While FIVE Music’s first release came in 2021 with producer Burak Yeter’s “Oh My My,” featuring producer Montiego and singer Séb Mont, they’ve only since upped their game. Most recently, Berlin artist Wankelmut and vocalist MKLA released their song “Nobody” via FIVE Music on December 1st.
Inviting everyone from the U.K.’s Rudimental to rappers NLE Choppa, Camelphat, and more into their FIVE Music studio on the 16th floor of FIVE Palm Jumeirah, it’s clear that there’s something of a long-term commitment from the company that’s an extension of their shows over the years. Electronic artist Topic and Robin Schulz’s new song “One By One” had a music video also shot at the hotel.
Dubai-based Topic says in a statement that he performed at The Penthouse at a gig with Schulz and had found a worthy collaborator in the company. He adds, “The setting was the perfect juxtaposition of the desert and the city. The work they are putting into the music industry with FIVE Music and the nightlife in Dubai is brilliant, and I can’t wait to see what the future holds.“
Dabruck said in a statement at the time of launching FIVE Music last year, “I think we have created something extremely special together. We cannot wait to welcome the world’s top songwriters, producers, and artists, and I am sure we will listen to some smash hits like ‘Made in Dubai’ very soon!”
On the gig front, The Penthouse at FIVE Palm Jumeirah remains the center of attention, hosting artists like Sean Paul, Gordo, Dimitri Vegas & Like Mike, Pete Tong, Hot Since 82, Meduza, and more as part of their gig series Skyline Fridays. Close by, their beach party venue Bohemia has brought in the likes of Jax Jones, Ben Bohmer, Robin Schulz, and more for the Saturday sundowner event series Beach Extravaganza.
This week sees British DJ-producer John Newman take over the decks at Skyline, The Penthouse, on February 2nd. The Bohemia Beach Festival rolls on with Turkish artist Bora Uzer and techno artist Stephan Jolk on February 3rd. Later this month, the house music label Anjunadeep will bring in a lineup including the likes of James Grant, Jody Wisternoff, and Marsh at Bohemia.
Behind FIVE Hotels and Resorts are Indian-origin entrepreneurs, including chairman and founder Kabir Mulchandani and CEO of FIVE Hospitality, Aloki Batra. Mulchandani said at the time of FIVE Music’s launch, “From beachside to rooftop, there’s no doubt that music runs through FIVE’s DNA, and therefore we can’t wait to continue growing this division of our evolving portfolio to flourish alongside such a longstanding and respected musical hitmaker [Warner Music].”
